"beach trip synopsis"

May 28, 2002~10:32 p.m.

I enjoyed my first day of sleeping in. Although I hate that I wasted so much time. I am going to get up early tomorrow. I need to go walking and also call in my Erythimiacyn refill before my dentist appointment. I am getting my 3 remaining wisdom teeth pulled at 11:00 tomorrow and I need to take my meds by 10:00. So I need to get up and get it filled early. I'm going to try to milk the pain for all it is worth tomorrow. Sleep, nap, rest...eat soup. But I promise I'll be back to my old duties on Thursday. Pam and I have scheduled to go work out at the Y and then take the kids to the pool there.

I meant to write about my beach trip. Saturday Laurie and I were so bored at work with nothing to do, but we were required to go until 1:00 pm. As soon as the time came, we headed to our houses to get our own pillows. Then I drove to her house to pick her up and load her stuff in my car. I picked Tim up lunch at Wendy's then we deaded to Sonic for to go lunch. I tried the new grilled chicken wrap. It was ok, but does not compare to the KFC Twister. We then headed to the beach. The drive went well and it was not long at all. About 3 hours or so. I was doing well on the speed control also and about 10 minutes before we were there I was pulled over. I had no idea what the speed limit was as there were no signs. The officer admited there were few and far between and gave me a warning. Thank goodness. Tim would have had a fit if I got another one!

We got to the town house and mom and Heather were on the beach fishing. I can't believe they are so into fishing. They had gone out fishing on a rented boat earlier. I changed into shorts and joined them on the beach. I'm glad my hubby packed me a lounge chair. After about a half hour we headed inside to freshen up to go eat. We went to a place called Butler's. It was right on the beach and it was delicious. Mom and I shared a combo platter and we both got salads. We were plenty satisfied. Everything was cooked well.

After we got home we walked on teh beach. We walked for about an hour which we estimated was about 2 miles or so. We took flashlights and there were more crabs then you could shake a stick at! And Heather literally did. She hit one with a stick. We commenced to calling her the "crab killer" after that.

We ended up fussing over who was sleeping where. All we knew was my mom "the snorer" was sleeping in the bedroom with the door. Heather allowed Laurie and I to room upstairs in the loft. I hated for Heather to sleep on the sofa but she didn't mind. I told Laurie it was like spending the night again like in Junior High. Except we had seperate beds now. I took the twin, it was closer to the bathroom.

Sunday morning, Heather got up and went to church in Panama City. She goes to COC and this little old lady insisted she attend church or she would tell on her. I sat on the beach that morning after I ate breakfast and read my book and drank water. It was sooooo restful and peacefull.

All three of us gals then put our bathing suits on and laid out for about an hour. Mom and I, being the fair skinned of the bunch, slathered ourselves in sunscreen. Mom only got burnt on her ears. I kept my hat on a lot so I was ok. I got a little sun on my back and a tiny splotch on my leg. I wish I could tan well.

We then went inside and fixed lunch...sandwiches and mac and cheese. We all were tired and took a nap. Heather came back and they all went outside again. I was exhausted and went in mom's room and fell asleep. I hate I wasted that time but I needed the rest. Then we all got cleaned up and went to eat dinner. Before we left we took pictures of ourselves in groups. We took some on the deck. Can't wait till we get them back. We ate at the Fish House and it was great also. I had grilled shrimp, seasoned rice, and a hushpuppy. It was good. Heather ate gator kabobs. Ugh.

When we got home we walked the beach again. We did another hour walk. We met some cute little boys that were crabbing. They tried to scare us with the crabs. When we walked back by on the way home, one emptied the bucket at our feet! We screamed but the crabs ran in the ocean. He was cute, but he wanted to see some old ladies scream!

When we got home we all chilled and watched Trading Spaces until after midnight.

Monday morning I got up and sat on the beach after breakfast again. I was the only one up. I read a lot and drank water. It was so nice. I didn't want to leave. I walked up and down the beach. I want to go back with Tim so bad. He would love it. He has wanted to see the gulf so much. We will probably try to go sometime this summer.

We showered and packed up and headed to Panama City. We ate at Sharky's. The food was ok and the service was crap. The waitress forgot about us and it took 45 minutes to get the food. I had a cajun grilled chicken salad. It was good though.

We then went in a couple souvenir shops. I didn't buy anything. There was nothing I saw of interest. I think I spent a total of $30 the entire time and that was on food. I am not including gas, which I didn't even use that much. We kind of skipped past Goofy Golf, which mom wanted to go to, but we didn't. I'm glad we didn't. It was hot.

I dropped Laurie off (mom was with Heather) at home and I got home at about 8:30 that night. I was so glad to see Tim! I missed him. He called me each night and it was nice hearing him. I miss home but that beach was nice. I want to go with Tim the next time.

A lady from our sunday school class called me today to see if I wanted to go with all the girls next weekend but that is the weekend my in laws are coming down. We are going to go to Brunswick with my parents also and go on the casino boat. We are spending the night. I wish I could go with them though. I think they are going to St. George.

I also received a letter while I was gone that said I was chosen to be in the cookbook contest the paper is running! I was so excited. I was chosen for my ham and cheese egg loaf. I am going to ahve to practice a little before then to get it just right. I have to come back at 2:30 for the winners announcement so we can't leave for Brunswich until late. I hope I ate least place in the bread catagory. I'll at least get my recipe published in the paper since I was chosen as a finalist.

I'm attaching some pictures I took of the beach. When I get the 35 mm film developed I'll scan them.
