"Radio"

I forgot to mention that I went to see Radio Sunday with my friend, who is also a special education teacher. It was so good and we recommend it for everyone to see. Just wish it was rated G so we could show it to students. I think there were only a few cuss words to mess it up. Why does Hollywood have to ruin a film by doing that?
Anyway, it was great and reminded me so much of what we want for our students. For them to become socially accepted by their peers and others around them. And in doing that, increasing their social skills.
The main character increases his communication skills through out the movie and it reminds me of my student I have now. How if he had been put in the severe classroom where they labeled him at, he would not be talking like he is now. Sometimes it may be hard to understand him, but he tries to talk up a storm all the time. Everyone at school just talks about how he has improved in his speech, and that is all in part because he is with more higher functioning kids and he is talked to by his peers. He is one of the most popular kids in school. Everyone knows him! And that is all we want for our kids.... to be accepted.
