We had a lot of calls yesterday from our favorite (sarcasm) agency. First to do respite for the little girl that is going to day care with Little One until Wednesday. We agreed to do Monday through Wednesday only as a favor to the fparents because we know them and she goes to school with LO so the routine will be the same. I hope I can survive 2-2 year olds!
THen we get a call on a 2 year old boy. I said no. Then later a call for a 5 month old boy. I said no.
Then at 7:30 - yes, 7:30 PM we get a call from the same director about the 5 month old. They are pretty desperate. They are planning to place with his aunt and uncle so why don't they go ahead and do that now instead of changing homes so much. I let her talk to DH this time. He told her no, that it was too much for us for the weekend. They are getting pretty desperate. I hate to say no, especially to a child, but they have done us wrong and we don't want to be stuck with this agency any longer than we have to. Little one is all we want to work with now and she is doing so much better on her own. Maybe they need to get a little desperate so they appreciate our position in the child care of these children. Maybe one of THEM need to stay up all night with an infant and care for them and see how our lives are.
Also, the visit was rescheduled to yesterday because of the weather earlier in the week. She has been so irritable and crabby and down right mean all yesterday and today. Babysitter said she started acting up the morning before they picked her up. She sees her bag and knows it is time for a visit with her father. So I geuss it brings out the meanness in her. She has been so good and loving and now it is squashed when she goes to see him. She was crying and clingy when she came back. And we dealt with terrible screaming fits all evening. We couldn't get her to sleep all night. Finally at 11:30 when we had done everything we could, we couldn't stand hearing her scream at the top of her lungs anymore and let her sleep on the baby crib mattress by our room. That is the only way we can get her to sleep when it is stormy outside and she is afraid. So for some reason she was scared last night. Wonder why? Is it bringing up bad memories from her past? I don't know? Today she has been crabby and screamy all day. At least I got a good hour or so nap out of her.
