"crib questions"

It has been exciting knowing we will be adopting soon. DH and I are talking more about specifics. Thinking of names, furniture, bedding, room colors, traveling and many other things.
One thing we are not sure of is if we want to invest in a new crib, knowing our child could be as old as 12 months by the time we get her. We were approved for a 0-12 month old at time of match but that is a big range. So we wonder...how long do most children stay a crib? Little one came to us at less than 23 months old and she was sleeping in a regular bed. She is almost 28 months now and enjoys her queen size bed that we got her. Although she would enjoy it more if we slept in there with her! So how long do most babies stay in their cribs and would it be worth it to buy a whole new crib and other pieces? Or just stick with the borrowed white jenny lind style one with a missing wheel that we have rigged so it is even?
